​Longhorn Classic is a 4-race series

Race 1 - 150 miles
 Race 2 - 200 miles
 Race 3 - 250 miles

Grand Finale
Race 4 - 370 miles

RULES

1. PERCH FEE: $130 non-refundable perch fee, per bird, due before or when pigeons arrive. No exceptions. 
2. EVERY 6th perch is FREE.
3. Accepting birds from April 1 to May 31, 2025 (ship replacements until June 11). 
4. ENTRY FEE: $450 entry fee MUST BE PAID FOR EVERY BIRD that returns from 100-mile Qualifier. ​ Payment must be received at least 2 days before 1st race. Unpaid birds will be posted for activation by other breeders. The breeder who activates any of these birds becomes the new owner. If a bird is not activated by any breeder, the bird becomes property of the Longhorn Classic. ​
5. BREEDERS RECEIVE A $250 REFUND FOR EVERY BIRD BIRD GOES TO 1ST RACE BUT DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR FINAL. A bird that goes missing, has a visible injury, returns after being gone for a week or more, or that misses any of the races - does not qualify. ALL OTHER BIRDS QUALIFY. We don't give refunds just because a breeder doesn't think his bird is going to win.
6. If a bird's entry fee is paid early, but bird doesn't make it to 1st race, the $450 entry fee is refunded.
7. Sprint Series (races 1, 2, & 3) prizes are paid by clocking order only.  Grand Finale (race 4) prizes are paid by first drop, then by clocking order.  All prizes for all positions of birds on first drop are added together, then divided equally among the birds on first drop. Bird is considered "clocked" when the clock records the bird - the bird does not have to physically drop through the trap into the loft. ​
8. Accepting 1,200 birds max. 
9. None of our family members are allowed to enter our race.
10. No limit to number of birds a breeder can enter.
11. Live clocking on WinCompanion and Benzing One Loft Race.
12. All birds are vaccinated upon arrival, and given boosters when flights are pulled. 
13. Birds' 9th & 10th flights are cut upon arrival, then pulled together at the appropriate time.
14. Activated birds remain property of breeders - no buybacks or auctions.
15. Champion Bird average speed is calculated by total distance / total time for all 4 races.
16. In the event of a tough race, clock is stopped the 2nd day at 30 minutes after sunset. Any unfilled prize slots will be divided equally among all birds that clock by that time.
17. A completed IRS W-9 form must be submitted to Longhorn Classic before winnings of $600 or more are paid.​
18. Birds not claimed within 7 days of Grand Finale become property of the Longhorn Classic.
19. Breeders pay for return shipping of their birds. Shipping costs are as follows: $75 per 1-bird box, $85 per 2-bird box & $95 per 3-bird box. The shipping costs include a handling fee.
20. Breeder must be at least 18 years old to enter birds.
21. Loft visits by appointment only, and birds can only be viewed from outside the loft.​
22. 17% of all prize funds are withheld for expenses.
23. Longhorn Classic reserves the right to refuse birds from any breeder and makes final decisions regarding disputes. ​
