2024 COURSE & RACE DATES

The 2024 Longhorn Classic course will again be a Northwest direction, with Texline TX being the release point for the Grand Finale - 370 miles. However, based on the winds on race day, we may change the Grand Finale to between 325 - 400 miles.
The weather in Texas is unpredictable. We do our best to have races that challenge the birds, but still get them home. We try to avoid easy blow-homes. The ideal scenario is a race that allows the cream to rise to the top.
This course has varying wind directions. Some days there are headwinds and other days there are tailwinds. This causes speeds to vary between 1400 - 1750 YPM.

GRAND FINALE, 320 mi - DEC 21 - Adrian, TX
OPTIONAL 400-MILE RACE, 400 mi - JAN 1 2025 - Newkirk, NM
